Barbican Estate
A one day workshop to discover the urban realm of high walks, gardens and lakes and create photographs of London’s famous Brutalist estate
In this workshop, learn about the design of the Barbican Estate and how to photograph its architectural geometries using leading lines, focal points and framed views that help create a dialogue between foreground and background.
Learn about details and textures from the Brutalist concrete to the lighting design and street furniture to bring these features into your photography and explore abstract compositions through ethereal reflections and shadows.
If you are interested to learn more about black and white settings, the workshop will also cover some colour theory including monochrome and analogous colour schemes to create tonally simplified but effective images.
Interested in night photography? There is also a dusk workshop that begins in the afternoon and covers the twilight hours, as the Barbican lighting design changes the way photographers see the Estate..
