An incomplete project to follow the architectural legacy of Arthur Benison Hubback.
Arthur Benison Hubback was the architect responsible for more than twenty municipal and religious buildings across Malaysia while under the British empire. He incorporated different architectural traditions including neo-classical domes, arches and gables in addition to features such as Mughal chatri spires. Seeing his Indo-Saracenic imperialist style in Malaysia is culturally confusing, although the designs are often thought as pleasing to the eye, if the colonial context is put to one side. These photos were a starting point for thinking about Hubback and the idea of photographing his legacy as a longer-term project.
